In memory of Rt Rev Charles James Blomfield (1786-1857).
Rev Charles James Blomfield was the Rector of Dunton from 1811 to 1817. He held 10 posts during his career, the last being Bishop of London for 28 years from 1828 to 1856. With 2 wives, he had a total of 17 children, although 6 of them died before the age of 6.

Memorial Stones in the Chancel to two of Blomfield's sons who died in 1813 and 1815 at 9 months and 3 months. One of his sons was the architect Sir Arthur William Blomfield (1829-1899). One of his grandsons was the architect Sir Reginald Theodore Blomfield (1856-1942) who was trained by his uncle, Arthur William Blomfield. Another of his sons was Alfred Blomfield (1833-1894) who followed his father into the Church, becoming Bishop of Colchester from 1882-1894
