George Measures Parlby (1856-1944)
Stained glass designer who designed windows for James Powell & Sons (1880s-1916), including a spell as principal designer and thereafter continued to produce designs for them on a freelance basis until 1916. He also designed for Cox, Son and Buckley and by 1894 had become chief designer for Curtis, Ward and Hughes, after the firms were taken over by T.F. Curtis in 1883 and 1890 respectively.
He worked also as a painter. He became Master of the Art Workers Guild in 1942 and died at Hammersmith, where he had been working.
